Blogging To Increase Your eBay Sales – It really works!

News & Events No Comments »

Hey there!  I’ve been taking a little breaky, break from blogging on my eBay items for a week or two.  Why?  Because I was doing a bit of an experiment – test, test, test!  This blog is still in its infancy and it’s important to me to figure out what’s working and not working.  I love this blog, so it’s worth my time to have a good look at how it’s helping my eBay sales.  I was so excited to share my results with my friends over at Freshnet.com.

I’ve done a test to see if I can get a good stream of traffic – and you know what I noticed…the blog really works!  In my first two weeks up and running there was a nice increase in traffic from my blog and from google!

The date range on the image below is from my eBay traffic log.  It is a two week period of time where there were consistent blog posts referring to items within my eBay store.  Since this is a new blog, the results for bbalerts.com were never there.  I always had ’some’ google traffic, but this IS a big jump since implementing bbalerts blog.  A noticeable 5.3% in traffic – and there was a noticeable increase in eBay sales. :)

I went back one month prior and measured my eBay traffic for another 2 week period of time as a comparison.  An obvious increase in the google ranking.

Then, I decided to do another experiment.  I stopped blogging about my items and my traffic (and eBay sales) took a nose dive.  The results below are from the last two weeks in August.

So what do you think?  Clearly a drop in results when you stop blogging!  I tell the subscribers at Boutique Bargains all the time….keep on listing!  Now I’m telling them to Keep on Blogging! :)

Visit my friends over at Freshnets for your own customized eBay Blog, you’ll be happy with the results!

What Sells Well For You On eBay?

News & Events No Comments »

Hey there!  I thought I’d do a recap of a handful of my sales for the last few months.  I’ve had a bunch of sales, but I’m just going to touch on some.  It’s fun to see what’s selling for everyone.  We have a great post started at Boutique Bargains where everyone shares.  It’s interesting to follow and participate.

Here’s some highlights from my sales….June was really busy for me, I only had store sales – which I love. July was so, so and August was/is pretty steady. My international sales have doubled. I went from selling one or two every other week, to selling three a week to various places. Canada is always popular for me, but I’ve also had Italy and Norway and others. Sweet!

I sold six pair of Bear Feet Shoes ranging from $59.99 – $64.99. I paid between $33 and $43 a pair for them.

Used Baby Lulu Dress Paid $15 at a consignment shop, Allison wore it for a season and I resold it for a tad more than I paid for it! Love sales like that!

Dr. Brown’s Paid $26 ($13 each). Sold quite a few sets of these, they are coming down in price now.

Picture Me Set Paid $9.99, I have several of these for next season

Gymboree Boots Paid $7.99

Petit Ami Set Paid $9

Gymboree Sweater Paid $7.99

Le Top Set Paid $15

I also sold a ton of Allison’s gently used Gymboree sets and other Fall clothes, those are pure profit. :)

Affiliate Marketing – What’s Stopping You?

Affiliate Marketing – What’s Stopping You?

Once upon at time, and it really wasn’t that long ago – I thought affiliate marketing was something for other people. People with big lists and massive websites. If you’re having similar thoughts, let me tell you now, it’s simply not true.

You don’t need to build a list first. You don’t need to have all the pieces of your business plan in place first. You can get started with affiliate marketing with very little. In affiliate marketing, it’s okay to start small.

Of course, you won’t be making millions in your sleep overnight. That’s not what affiliate marketing is really about. It’s about recommending products and services that you believe will serve others in return for a small commission.

You’ll start small and grow slow, but you’ll be able to build a steady income over time. The beauty of affiliate marketing is the residual effects that are only evident over the passage of time.

I know I had my doubts. For well over a year, I resisted the lure of affiliate marketing. It wasn’t hard to convince myself that it would be a waste of time. Anytime I thought about it, my mind would answer “Who are you kidding? Who is going to buy from me?”

Self-doubt could be keeping you from achieving all you were intended. It gives me shivers to think what my life might be like now if I hadn’t started. Would I have been able to support my son as a single mom over these past years without the income earned through affiliate marketing?

As long as you are willing to commit yourself to working your business and are willing to learn, there is no reason you can’t reap the benefits of affiliate marketing for yourself. It really is a simple matter of deciding that you want to try and then finding the resources that will help you make the journey.

Lack of funds is not a barrier to getting started with affiliate marketing. In many cases, you can get started with no money at all, simply sign up for the programs that appeal to you and start promoting to your existing audience. If you don’t already have a blog and domain name of your own, it might cost $20 to get up and running.

So what’s stopping you from getting started?
